Behind The Rework: Chilly Gonzales 'Never Stop' (Erol Alkan Rework)

Chilly Gonzales 'Never Stop' (Erol Alkan Rework) taken from his 'Reworks Volume 1' compilation, a track long been out of print and highly sought after on vinyl.

"This rework for 'Never Stop' by Chilly Gonzales is another one which took a few attempts. I spent around a month working on a really slow, Balearic mix which was centred around the piano riff, it almost drove me insane. I couldn't add anything of value to that piano part, so I admitted defeat and did two things:

1: I made a version with just piano, just to satisfy myself that I could so something different using just that instrument (that's the Piano-Pella which appears on the original 12") and then

2: I threw the piano away and chopped Gonzo's vocals up, and made a house track around it in 2 hours. What came out on the record is pretty much a live jam on my SH-101, Drumtacks and Polyvox, I sequenced it out, hit play and then recorded it all in live. And I could never make out if he says 'Celibate' or 'Sell A Bit' in the breakdown. Answers on a postcard..." - Erol Alkan
