NYC duo Fundido and LA-via-Milan artist Nieri debut on Phantasy with ‘Nuova Persona’, featuring remixes from Budino and Justin Strauss.
Driven by a pulsing bassline, ‘Nuova Persona (Club Mix)’ arrives after regular tests in recent DJ sets of Phantasy founder, Erol Alkan. Pleasingly quintessential to the label’s sound, the Club Mix’s sharper edges blur into dreamier territory, opening up the night with rapturous calls to ecstasy, alongside Nieri’s observations on the rituals and contradictions of modern life — “Protein shake for breakfast, before I hit the gym / Statistics, logistics, is this really all there is?”
Fundido’s alternate ‘Bliss Mix’ lowers the tempo of ‘Nuova Persona’, jacking up the sensuality, relocating Nieri in the centre of sublime NYC house, where swinging percussion and flipped jazz keys orchestrate a smooth subversion.
