Having just released the 4-track ‘Diminuendo EP’ last Friday, Daniel Avery shares the video for final track ‘Time Marked Its Irregular Pulse In Her Eyes’. The video was directed by Tom Andrew and Sam Davis, who previously created the visual for Song For Alpha cut ’Glass’.
“Filmed with a compositional style of a given interview to camera to visually connect with the track,” the directors explain, “this short film explores a continuation on from the video for ‘Glass’. Where ‘Glass’ explored a shared state of mind in a club environment, based on a quote of Avery’s, describing ‘those moments in a club when the outside world becomes little more than an inconsequential thought,’ this video follows the journey of the of the girl in the closing shot of ‘Glass’, who is seen making her way to the door, through the crowd and strobes, as the night is ending. When alone the sense of space is apparent and filled by the imprinted atmosphere of the night on her mind. Vivid recollections are mixed with the empty present as her mind is home to an internal blend of brilliantly graphic sights and sounds.”
On ‘Time Marked Its Irregular Pulse In Her Eyes’, the disembodied elements of Avery’s studio communicate something cryptic and unnerving as a farewell. The most uncompromising and purely physical batch of material to emerge in the wake of Song For Alpha, the ‘Diminuendo’ EP finds Avery on urgent and ruthless form.
