Beyond The Wizards Sleeve have unveiled the video to their forthcoming single, Black Crow, which is released on Phantasy on Friday October 7th
Black Crow is the third single to be taken from their recently released, much acclaimed debut album The Soft Bounce.
Part American Gothic, part future movie soundtrack, it’s a song of haunting beauty. Holly Miranda's vocal glides across reflective strings and delicate crystalline snippets of sound, resulting in an epic torch song lament. It’s backed with White Crow, Erol Alkan's mighty extended reworking of the song, placing it in spacious widescreen, where you can hear for miles.
Talking about the inspiration behind the video, director Romano Pizzichini said:
"Beneath the dramatic peaks of the track, there’s an underlying tension that’s always lingering. It doesn’t scream at you, but its there. Like an impending sense of doom. I wanted the Black Crow video to be in constant dialogue with that feeling. The way to do this was to create a world that could almost be normal, but is clearly not. We see this in the imagery, which is constantly teetering between innocence and brutality, but shot in a matter-of-fact way. The final, crucial thing here was to have a sense of humour. The last thing we wanted was to create something that took itself too seriously"
