Daniel Avery soundtracks a new short film by London-based filmmakers Tom Andrew and Sam Davis, out now. Titled VOID – One Year Of Silence and released on the first anniversary of the nationwide coronavirus lockdown, the 14-minute work was born from Andrew and Davis’s visits to empty clubs across the country, documenting their emptiness on film. The piece is hosted by Resident Advisor alongside portraits and interviews of club owners across the country and released in support of suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
With footage of beloved UK venues almost incomprehensibly devoid of humanity, the result is a meditative yet deeply moving piece of film that highlights the poignancy of a nightlife without life.
